Hidden Power, Faithful Service
經文：彼得前書四章10節
Scripture: 1 Peter 4:10
「各人要照所得的恩賜彼此服事，作神百般恩賜的好管家。」
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
一、火車的比喻，人心的鏡子
A Train, and a Mirror for the Heart
老師把教會比作一列火車，車頭、座位、笛、燈、欄杆、車廂，各有各的功用，正如教會裡各種恩賜與崗位，缺一不可。
The teacher compares the church to a train—engine, seats, whistle, lights, railings, and carriages each serve a purpose, just as the church contains many gifts and roles, none of which are dispensable.
多數學生選擇的角色，都有一個共同特點：能被人看見、能發出聲音、能留下印象。
Most students choose roles that share one thing in common: they can be seen, heard, and remembered.
笛子響起，讓人聽見；欄杆立著，保護安全；車廂裝載，供應所需。
The whistle sounds and people hear it; the railing stands and protects; the carriage carries what is needed.
這些角色都很重要，也沒有一個是錯誤的選擇。
Each of these roles matters, and none of these choices is wrong.
但唯有那位年幼的學生，選擇了一個沒有形狀、沒有光彩、甚至最終變成炭渣被丟在路旁的角色——煤炭。
Yet only the youngest student chooses a role with no shape, no glamour, and one that ultimately turns to ash and is discarded by the roadside—coal.
這個對比不是要貶低其他角色，而是要揭開一個常被忽略的真理：教會裡最有能力的服事，往往不是最顯眼的服事。
This contrast is not meant to diminish the other roles; it uncovers a truth often overlooked—the most powerful service in the church is often not the most visible service.
二、煤炭的三個特質
Three Qualities of the Coal
1. 它不追求被看見，只追求被使用
1. It Seeks Not to Be Seen, but to Be Used
笛聲響起時，眾人抬頭；煤炭燃燒時，無人抬頭看它。
When the whistle sounds, everyone looks up; when the coal burns, no one looks at it.
它不在乎有沒有人注意它，只在乎火車是否能前行。
It does not care whether anyone notices it; it cares only whether the train moves forward.
這正是彼得前書所描繪的服事心態：不是為了證明自己的價值，而是單純地照所得的恩賜，彼此服事。
This is precisely the posture of service that 1 Peter describes: not proving one’s own worth, but simply using the gift received to serve others.
真正忠心的服事，往往發生在沒有攝影機、沒有掌聲、沒有社交媒體按讚的地方——例如深夜為教會事工代禱的人，例如默默清潔會堂的人，例如在後台默默預備音響、燈光、茶水的人。
Truly faithful service often happens where there are no cameras, no applause, and no social media likes—like those who intercede for the church late at night, those who quietly clean the sanctuary, and those who prepare sound, lighting, and refreshments backstage without notice.
2. 它甘願燃燒自己，成就別人
2. It Willingly Burns Itself to Accomplish Others’ Good
煤炭若不燃燒，就只是一塊黑色的石頭，毫無用處。
If coal does not burn, it remains only a black stone, useless.
它必須被燒毀，才能釋放出推動整部火車的能力。
It must be consumed by fire in order to release the power that drives the entire train.
這提醒我們，服事往往帶著代價：時間被燃燒、精力被燃燒、有時連情緒與健康都要付上代價。
This reminds us that service often carries a cost: time is spent, energy is spent, and sometimes emotional and physical health are spent as well.
保羅曾說，他為教會的緣故，情願被澆奠，如同祭物上的奠祭；這種燃燒自己、成就他人的精神，正是煤炭所象徵的服事本質。
Paul once said he was willing to be poured out like a drink offering for the sake of the church; this spirit of burning oneself for the good of others is exactly what the coal symbolizes about the essence of service.
3. 它甘於被遺忘，卻不因此停止燃燒
3. It Is Willing to Be Forgotten, Yet Never Stops Burning
「燒過後變成炭渣，被倒在路旁，不被人紀念」，這句話說得直接而誠實。
“After being burned, it becomes ash, discarded by the roadside, not remembered by anyone”—this line is spoken directly and honestly.
服事若只求被紀念、被感謝、被看見，一旦沒有得到相應的回應，很容易心生埋怨，甚至停止服事。
If service seeks only to be remembered, thanked, or seen, then when it receives no corresponding response, it easily breeds resentment and may even stop altogether.
但煤炭的忠心，不建立在會不會被記念之上，而建立在火車是否能前行之上。
But the coal’s faithfulness is not built on whether it will be remembered, but on whether the train can move forward.
這種服事觀，把焦點從「我會得到甚麼」轉移到「主的工作能否因我而繼續」。
This view of service shifts the focus from “What will I gain?” to “Can the Lord’s work continue because of me?”
三、禱告：教會裡最隱藏卻最有力的煤炭
Prayer: The Church’s Most Hidden Yet Most Powerful Coal
默想部分特別提到，背後禱告的服事，就像火車上的煤炭，大有能力，是每位信徒都應同心去做的。
The reflection specifically notes that the service of prayer behind the scenes, like coal on a train, carries great power and is something every believer should undertake together.
這個提醒極其重要，因為禱告常常是教會事工中最容易被忽略的部分。
This reminder is essential, because prayer is often the most easily overlooked part of church ministry.
講道被聽見、詩歌被聽見、服事被看見，禱告卻多半發生在密室、深夜、通勤路上、病床邊，沒有人為此拍照留念。
Sermons are heard, songs are heard, and service is seen, yet prayer mostly happens in a closed room, late at night, on a commute, or beside a hospital bed, with no one taking a photo to remember it.
然而，正如煤炭推動整部火車，看不見的禱告往往推動著看得見的事工。
Yet just as coal drives the entire train, unseen prayer often drives the ministry that everyone can see.
一場成功的講道背後，可能有人多年為講者代禱；一次感人的敬拜，背後可能有人在敬拜前徹夜為敬拜團隊禱告；一個生命的轉變，背後可能有人默默地、持續地、不求回報地為他禱告了許多年。
Behind a successful sermon, someone may have interceded for the speaker for years; behind a moving worship service, someone may have prayed through the night for the worship team; behind a transformed life, someone may have prayed silently, persistently, and without seeking recognition for many years.
禱告的人常常是教會裡最沉默的煤炭：沒有講台，沒有麥克風，卻承載著整個事工能否前行的能力。
Those who pray are often the church’s most silent coal—without a pulpit, without a microphone, yet carrying the power that determines whether the entire ministry can move forward.
四、與經文的呼應
Echoes of the Scripture
彼得前書四章10節的關鍵，不在於「你有甚麼恩賜」，而在於「你如何使用恩賜」。
The key to 1 Peter 4:10 lies not in “what gift you have,” but in “how you use your gift.”
經文說，我們是「神百般恩賜的好管家」，這意味著恩賜不是我們的私產，而是神託付給我們，為了彼此服事的資源。
The passage says we are “faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms,” meaning that our gifts are not private possessions but resources entrusted to us by God for serving one another.
管家不會問：「這個崗位夠不夠榮耀我？」
A steward does not ask, “Is this position glorious enough for me?”
管家只會問：「我有沒有忠心地使用所託付的？」
A steward asks only, “Have I faithfully used what has been entrusted to me?”
無論是笛子、欄杆、車廂，還是煤炭，每一個角色都是被主所安排、被主所使用的；重要的不是崗位的大小，而是服事的忠心。
Whether whistle, railing, carriage, or coal, every role is appointed and used by the Lord; what matters is not the size of the position, but the faithfulness of the service.
五、今日的自我省察
Self-Examination for Today
我在教會或生活中，是否只願意選擇能被看見、能被稱讚的服事崗位？
In church or in life, do I choose only roles of service that can be seen and praised?
我是否曾因為某個服事沒有得到感謝或紀念，而感到心灰、想要停止？
Have I ever felt discouraged and wanted to stop serving because a particular act of service went unthanked or unremembered?
我在禱告這件隱藏卻極有能力的服事上，是否常常忽略，甚至因為看不見立即成果而輕看它？
Do I often neglect prayer—this hidden yet powerful form of service—or undervalue it because its results are not immediately visible?
我是否願意像那位煤炭一樣，甘心燃燒自己，卻不求被人記念？
Am I willing, like the coal, to willingly burn myself without seeking to be remembered?
六、禱告
Prayer
親愛的天父，感謝祢創造我獨特，也賜我獨特的恩賜，正如身體上各有不同的肢體。
Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me uniquely and giving me a unique gift, just as the body has different members.
求祢賜我一個像煤炭一樣謙卑的心，不追求被人看見，只追求被祢使用。
Grant me a heart humble like the coal, seeking not to be seen by others, but only to be used by You.
當我在無人看見的地方服事、代禱、付出時，求祢使我不因缺乏掌聲而灰心，而因知道自己正推動祢的工作前行而喜樂。
When I serve, intercede, and give in places no one sees, help me not to be discouraged by the lack of applause, but to rejoice in knowing that I am helping Your work move forward.
求聖靈提醒我，禱告不是次要的服事，而是隱藏卻極有能力的煤炭，願我殷勤不倦地在禱告中與祢同工。
Let the Holy Spirit remind me that prayer is not a secondary form of service but hidden and powerful coal; may I labor diligently and without weariness, working together with You in prayer.
求祢使我甘心作神百般恩賜的好管家，不論崗位大小，都忠心地彼此服事，直到見祢面的那日。
Help me be willing to serve as a faithful steward of Your varied grace, faithfully serving others regardless of the size of my role, until the day I see Your face.
